!SMASH'D 2006 is the actual (real) name for Temasek Sec's Charity Concert this year. This year, it is/was held in Downtown East, D'Marquee. Here is an extract from the official webpage.
For the past few years, Temasek Secondary has been organizing charity concerts for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. This year 2006, due to the increase in amount of money that the Straits Times has requested for, we decided to go big and be the host for a mega charity concert. We believe that through concerts like these, we get to expose and feature young talents. And at the same time raise money for charity. We would like to assure the public that all proceeds will go directly to the Straits Times Pocket Money Fund. We are a non-profit organization. Our concerts have also produced many talents that have been approached by big management companies. We are proud to bring you once again our charity concert. And like every year, we keep you coming back for more.
This year, the fourth time in a row. I together with my team will be working on the video (Live broadcast and recording) of the concert. Just a short history on the equipment we were using.
Jungle Jive 2003 - 3 video cameras, 1 switcher, 2 projectors Afterworld 2004 - 3 video cameras, 1 swicher, 2 projectors Music Is It 2005 - 1 video mixer, 4 video cameras, 2 projectors
!SMASH'D 2006 - alot alot of equipment that it will be impossible to type all of them here. In fact, we have a totally broadcast-style equipment/setup.
This year, it was a total success. A TOTAL SUCCESS. Everything went smoothly event though this is the first year that TMS charity concert went outside school. I am very veyr proud of mi school la..haha...smoooth baby...
btw,. is anyone wants the video, either email me if you know me, or go straight to the Peer Support Leaders (Temasek sec) to order one. We have three versions. VCD / DVD / Limited Edition DVD(50 pieces only). Pre-order quickly with them to avoid disappointment..
wooot! feeling so proud esp of lights and video.(Oversear ma) The lights was cool lah...Moving heads and stuff...Amy, WK, Sabri, good job there together with the Dmarquee Guy..haha....first ttime somemore..haha...good experience hor..
Video: ALl of you guys were good man. From daryl(sound), CY/QD/STAN/WQ (camera), HS/BEN(cam assistants), to me(video mixer=p) OUR VIDEO WAS SUPERBLY GOOD MAN..haha...watch it and you will know it..haha..We were like a well-oiled production crew man. You know what? Audience thought that the whole setup was a professional one when it is all done by students. haha.......guess what. Students can also come out with these man...dun ever look down on us..

I am writing this not to flame or 'shoot' anyone but just to release my bottled feelings and how weird the incident is. I just dunnoe how can this happen at all. I am super confused that i just wanna laugh it off. wahaha..
Two saturdays ago, in an educational institute in Singapore, an audition for a concert is supposed to take place at 10am in the dance studio and band room. A group of 3 super-helpful and ever-thinking guys was already preparing the video cameras, the microphones, the neccesary wires and the delegation of jobs ever since 9.15am.
At exactly, 9.56am, that group of 3 made their confident way to the venue thinking that the video shoot will take place smoothly and the creation of the promotional video can be done quickly. They were doing their last preparations and entered the venue at exactly 10am.
On reaching, the pple in charge suddenly said the time has been changed to 10.30am. Okay, no problem. They waited patiently for the time. At 10.30am, they made their way in and started to help me adjust the aircon temp. to make them more efficient and they sat down.
They were chatting amongst themselves and out of nowhere, a person 'in charge' charged at us and asked us to leave the venue immediately. They were very confused and confirmed with them and the teacher who supported them. They tried to defend themselves, saying that they needed to do the promo video. However, the 'in charge' said no way. The video crew were given the reason that the bands do not want so many people in there and that the bands felt unconfortable with the video camera inside.
WHAT ?????? WHAT IS THAT NONSENSE????? Have you ever heard of bands being scared of video cameras and being afraid of so many people in the audition room??? Weird and Crap!!! There were only about, what?, 8 people inside....During the real event, there will be 2000 and maybe much more at De'Marquee and there will be many more video cameras and even the press may come, and you are telling me that you are scared of 8 pple and 1 bloody camera. Sit down like a good obedient thing and tihnk through.
I am totally pissed off at the attitude shown to us whether izzit that day or any other events. You think the video crew for you to push around izzit? We are humbling ourselves by doing the event a big assistance by offering to create the free publicity video and what we get in return. Unfairness. I know. Although we are the backstage stuff and are not that important to you all, we are still offering our help. What are sound, lights, video, etc etc to you all. We are not even earning much at all. We are willing to do it. To spend our precious time to offer as help.
I am always thinking. If we were really external people, will we be ever treated this way. I am always thinking about this.

1 week of 2006 just went by
the first week of 2006 just went by like that. it all happened so fast and it is now officially 53 weeks to 2007. you just think back and realise how short time is and how fast time really flies.
Update of my life now. After the A levels, there is like nothing much left to do except things of my interest. I have been working in TMS for the past 1 month already, doing 'handyman' jobs for a measly sum of money. but who cares. I am enjoying myself there and the jobs there are not really tt tiring and time consuming. Helping my previous sec school is also quite a fulfilling thing you know.
Abit about myself:
I have always been interested in the backstage type of things like Sound/light/video stuff. you know, those who mix sounds/music at concerts, performances...designing lights for shows, and doing live recording and stuff like that. However, i dun seem to be moving forward and developing that much.i am like stagnant there with no improvements lor..dunnoe why also. That's why trying to make it big for this year TMS SPMF charity concert which is to be held at Downtown East, De Marquee. more updates sooner or later..wahaha..i hope..
hmm..tts all for now....tired again....going to sleep....
